(DCWatchdog.com) – Republican US House of Representatives members have demanded that the Defense Department ax four doctors promoting sex-change surgeries for young children.
The four Pentagon-employed physicians – David Klein, Thomas Baxter, Natasha Schvey, and Noelle Larson – have argued in favor of “gender transitions” for children as young as seven-years-old in an article for the American Journal of Public Health.
They even argued that providing minors with gender-reassignment operations and hormones could boost the readiness of military forces, and therefore military physicians should have training in the “sex change” field, The Daily Caller reported.
Three of the four pro-transgenderist doctors – Klein, Baxter, and Schvey – work at Travis Air Force Base in California, while Larson is employed by Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
“Children can begin participating in their medical decision-making as early as age seven years,” the four Pentagon physicians insist in their article.
They claim that “youths … have an inherent ability and right” to get treated with hormones and sex-change operations.
A group of US House Republicans, including Rep. Mary Miller of Illinois, Rep. Diana Harshbarger of Tennessee, and Rep. Brian Babin of Texas, have reacted by urging the Defense Department (DOD) to sack the four doctors immediately.
“If DOD advocates for the chemical castration of 7–year–old children to further a radical leftwing political agenda, we lose our moral standing in the world,” the three Republicans wrote in a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
“The nations and people caught in the middle of the 21st Century struggle between American dominance or Chinese dominance will view us as morally lost,” the GOP lawmakers argue further.
The Daily Caller obtained the letter and tried to contact the four pro-transgender doctors for comments. Of them, Baxter and Larson couldn’t be reached, Klein didn’t respond, and Schvey redirected the comment request to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences media affairs officer.
“The US military is the greatest force for good in the history of the world. The Pentagon should immediately fire any ‘doctor’ who recommends chemically castrating a 7-year-old child to advance a political ideology, which is evil,” Rep. Miller added in a statement to The Daily Caller.
“It is incredibly disappointing to hear that Department of Defense personnel are advocating for the chemical castration of our children,” commented Rep. Harshbarger.
“Our armed forces must be focused on the threat our adversaries pose and the defense of our nation, not radical gender ideologies. By embracing a woke agenda, the DoD is abandoning its core mission at a time when American global dominance is under attack,” she added.
The report stresses that the administration of President Joe Biden, especially its Health Department, has advocated for sex-change surgeries for minors funded with taxpayer money.
That includes Assistant Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine, a biological male, whom Biden has celebrated as the “first woman” to become a four-star admiral in US history.
