(DCWatchdog.com) – HAPPENING NOW: Law enforcement sources have informed The New York Post that the NYPD and US Secret Service are collaborating to prepare for the possibility of former President Donald Trump’s indictment in Manhattan.
This comes after Trump announced on his social media platform “Truth Social” that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday and called on his followers to “take our nation back.”
The FBI, state court officers, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office have also been involved in discussions about security measures, including the Strategic Response Group of the NYPD, which responds to civil unrest and major events.
Officials from several agencies met on Sunday and are expected to confer again on Monday.
The sources stated that federal, state, and local authorities are on alert due to Trump’s call to supporters.
The agencies plan to discuss security measures that include restricting vehicle access to the Manhattan courthouse and deploying personnel inside and outside the building.
While Bragg’s office has not confirmed or denied the possibility of an indictment, the NYPD has stated that it will be ready in the event of Trump’s arrest and any potential unrest.
Trump’s alleged pending arrest stems from Bragg’s ongoing investigation into hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
Daniels claims that she had an affair with Trump in 2006, which he has denied.
In his “Truth Social” post, Trump chided “ILLEGAL LEAKS FROM A CORRUPT & HIGHLY POLITICAL MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE.”
Regarding the matter, Bragg’s email to his staff stated that his office would not be intimidated by Trump’s call for protests, and law enforcement partners would investigate any specific or credible threats against the office.
Bragg also stated that they would continue to apply the law evenly and fairly and speak openly only when appropriate, and they do not tolerate attempts to intimidate their office or threaten the rule of law in New York.
