Famous NFL Coach Attending Today’s March for Life

Tony Dungy

(DCWaycdog.com) – NFL Hall of Famer Tony Dungy has announced that he will attend for the first time the March for Life, the annual anti-abortion event in Washington, DC.

The former head coach of the Indianapolis Colts tweeted he would go to the march in the nation’s capital on January 20, Friday, together with his wife, Lauren.

His announcement also revealed another NFL pro-life advocate, former New England Patriots tight end Benjamin Watson.

“Tomorrow Lauren and I will be in Washington DC attending the 2023 March For Life,” Tony Dungy wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

“It will be my first time at the March and I’m looking forward to joining my friend Benjamin S. Watson and thousands of others who will be there to support those unborn babies who don’t have a voice,” he added.

The 2023 March for Life in Washington, DC, is “expected to be an extra festive event” because it is the march’s first edition since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Breitbart News reported.

The Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization once again gave states the right to decide on the legality of abortion.

The annual March for Life in the nation’s capital was largely brought about by the 1973 pro-abortion Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade.

The 2023 event participants will celebrate the end of Roe v. Wade but are also expected to focus on the pro-life movement’s next steps.

Besides attending the 2023 March for Life with tens of thousands of anti-abortion advocates, NFL legend Dungy will also deliver a speech at the event.

Even though the former Steeler and Colt is presently a mainstay on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, he has been adamantly defending the right to life of unborn infants.

In December 2020, Dungy took on Raphael Warnock, today a Democrat US Senator from Georgia, who was still only a candidate at the time.

Warnock had written in a Twitter post that he was a “pro-choice pastor,” leading Dungy to react by questioning the Democrat’s Christianity due to his endorsement of abortion.

“It all comes down to what you believe about the organism growing inside the mother,” the NFL Hall of Famer responded.

“Is it a life or not? If it is just growing tissue, then your ‘choice’ makes sense. If it’s a life, then it’s obviously not OK to choose to end it. What does your Bible tell you it is? Psalm 139:16,” Dungy added.

In another case, he blasted President Joe Biden for going back and forth on abortion in the latter’s position on when life begins.

“I’m curious as to what new information the President has gotten that has changed his mind on abortion and life? Reading the article, he seemed to talk about what his faith required him to accept. What has caused him to move away from that faith-based position?” Dungy wrote.
