(DCWatchdog.com) – In a new testimony to his newly-found support for the GOP cause, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and currently the wealthiest individual globally, made a huge financial contribution to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) last month.
This donation, amounting to $289,100, is noted as his largest to any political group thus far, as reported by Politico, cited by National Review.
The funds have been designated specifically for use in the NRCC’s convention and headquarters operations.
Musk, a figure who has previously expressed support for former President Donald Trump, is known for his financial contributions to both major political parties in the United States.
However, this particular donation to the NRCC stands out as his most substantial monetary support to any single party to date.
It underscores a pattern of balanced political funding, though this latest amount tilts notably toward the Republican side, the report points out.
The political landscape is highly anticipative of the upcoming November elections, with the Republican party aiming to maintain its majority in the House of Representatives.
Despite this significant contribution from Musk, the NRCC reported a total of $9.7 million in fundraising for the last month.
This figure, however, trails behind their Democrat counterparts, who amassed a more substantial $22.2 million.
In addition to his recent contribution to the NRCC, there is speculation that Musk has also allocated a considerable donation to the pro-Trump America PAC.
Details of this are expected to be revealed in the PAC’s financial report, set for release on October 15.
It’s important to note that Super PACs, such as the America PAC, are permitted to receive unlimited amounts from individual donors, providing a powerful avenue for affluent individuals like Musk to influence political campaigns and party activities significantly.
In August, Musk officially endorsed Donald Trump for president of the United States.
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on X.
“Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt,” he added in a later tweet.
