Dems And GOP Come Together For Major Decision

United States Supreme Court

DCWatchdog.com) – With the United States Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, the United States House of Representatives passed a bill this week that would increase security for justices and their immediate families.

Still, twenty-seven Democrat lawmakers voted against the bill, despite the assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh less than a week prior.

The bill, which will provide round-the-clock protection to the families of Supreme Court justices, is headed to President Joe Biden’s desk for final approval.

The bill was passed by the House 396-27, approving the measure that had received unanimous consent from the Senate in May, a few days after the Supreme Court draft opinion leak in which the majority of conservative justices supported the intention to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Those who had opposed the bill stated their opposition stemmed from the limitation of the bill, saying the bill should include protection for court staff, including clerks and their families.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who voted against the bill, boasted on her Instagram that she would attempt to block the bill.

“I wake up this morning, and I start to hear murmurs that there is going to be an attempt to pass the Supreme Court supplemental protection bill the day after gun safety legislation for schools and kids and people is stalled,” she begins in the video.

She then said, “Oh, so we can pass protection for us and here easily, right? But we can’t pass protections for everyday people?” she questioned, “I think not!”
