(DCWatchdog.com) – In the latest bout of Democrat attacks on Donald Trump, a leftist US Senator has accused the Republican presidential candidate of “inspiring” and “endorsing” political violence in the United States – even though it is Trump who has survived two assassination attempts in the past few weeks.
In the aftermath of the September 15, 2024, assassination attempt targeting former President Donald Trump, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), a staunch advocate for gun control, voiced a provocative accusation, Breitbart News reports.
He asserted that Trump himself has played a significant role in fueling the flames of “political violence.”
Murphy’s contention is that Trump not only inspires such violence but also endorses it.
He elaborated on his views through a post on the social media platform X, where he stated, “No leader has done more to inspire and endorse political violence than Donald Trump.”
On the same day that Murphy shared his thoughts on X, Hillary Clinton, who unsuccessfully ran for president, appeared on MSNBC’s program with Rachel Maddow.
During the interview, Clinton described Trump as a “danger to our country and the world.”
This remark aligns with the narrative that Trump’s influence extends beyond mere national security concerns, posing a broader threat.
Breitbart News brought to light another controversial statement from the past, which further complicates the discourse surrounding political rhetoric and violence.
According to a 2016 post on X, David Plouffe, who was a senior adviser to then-President Barack Obama, made an extreme comment about Trump.
Plouffe’s post read: “It is not enough to simply beat Trump. He must be destroyed thoroughly. His kind must not rise again.”
This post is often cited as an example of Democrats allegedly inciting violence against Trump, especially relevant in the context of the recent assassination attempt.
Meanwhile, leftist propagandist Whoopi Goldberg has also accused Trump and the Republicans of inciting violence.
She reacted to GOP vice-presidential candidate JD Vance stressing that no one on the right had tried to assassinate Kamala Harris.
“JD clearly you haven’t been to one of your boss’ rallies because you believe this insanity. I mean, he has been inciting violence since 2016 telling them to beat up hecklers, threaten to shoot looters and migrants,” Goldberg said.
“This is not us or them. This is you got to stop doing what you’re doing, JD and what you’re doing Mr. T. because you are not helping the situation,” she added.
