Dem Lawmaker: Hunter Biden a ‘Victim’

(DCWatchdog.com) – In a fresh bout of leftist impudence, a Democrat US lawmaker has bizarrely claimed Hunter Biden is a victim of the American justice system – only to have his claims dismantled by two IRS whistleblowers.

According to US Rep. Dan Goldman of New York, President Joe Biden’s son never benefitted from any special treatment when the FBI and the IRS investigated him.

Goldman made his remarks on Wednesday, shortly before three GOP-led House committees heard the testimonies under oath of the two IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler, who were categorical that Biden’s DOJ shielded his son Hunter from more severe charges and likely prison time.

A still-undisclosed former FBI supervisory agent testified earlier behind closed doors to the same end.

Last month, Hunter Biden received a “probation-only” plea deal for two tax misdemeanors, with a gun charge left hanging, to allow him to avoid a prison sentence.

“There is actually no basis to say that this is somehow political interference or a weaponization, as [Republicans] say, of the Department of Justice,” Goldman alleged in an MSNBC interview ahead of Wednesday’s whistleblower hearing, as cited by The Blaze.

“In fact, based on my experience, I’m shocked that Hunter Biden was even charged with these crimes. So the fact that he’s even taking a plea deal, in my mind, demonstrates a two-tiered system of justice against Hunter Biden,” the New York Democrat asserted without offering evidence for his allegations.

In his interview, Goldman omitted the issue of Hunter Biden’s gun charge over possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

The report stresses that such gun law violations typically carry up to 10 years in prison, with the Justice Department usually prosecuting them diligently and to the fullest.

“But in this case, [Hunter] Biden was offered pretrial diversion and a deal would save him from criminal prosecution. In fact, the charge will be dismissed if he fulfills the diversion requirements,” commentary notes.

Paradoxically, earlier this year, the Biden Justice Department even “boasted” about its achievements in prosecuting the very crime that Hunter Biden is now charged with – and none of the cases featured pretrial diversion offers – unlike the one granted to the first son.
