(DCWatchdog.com) – The new pro-abortion executive order of President Joe Biden has caused him to become the target of severe criticism, with one of the top Roman Catholic priests in America blasting him for going down a “path that leads to death and destruction.”
The powerful reaction to Biden’s latest effort to rescue abortion on behalf of the federal government has come from Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore. He serves as the chairman of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.
“[President Biden has decided] to promote and facilitate abortion in our country, seeking every possible avenue to deny unborn children their most basic human and civil right, the right to life,” Lori declared in a statement.
His strong-worded comments came after Biden took action to counter the recent ruling of the US Supreme Court, which ended federally-approved abortion in America by overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
The new ruling of the Supreme Court allowed at least 26 states to immediately move forward with laws on partial or complete bans of abortion, while leftist radicals across the nation have been protesting against the Court’s decision.
Given Biden’s new executive order, Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra is instructed to come up with a plan on how his department is going to “protect and expand access to abortion care, including medication abortion.”
The president also ordered the DHHS to “otherwise protect and expand access to the full range of reproductive healthcare services.”
The Roman Catholic archbishop of Baltimore, however, has been outraged by Biden’s executive order and has exposed the Democrat president as a person who is very far from the “devout Roman Catholic” image that he has been trying to claim for himself.
Biden is only the second Catholic to become President of the United States, after President John F. Kennedy.
“Rather than using the power of the executive branch to increase support and care to mothers and babies, the president’s executive order seeks only to facilitate the destruction of defenseless, voiceless human beings,” Archbishop Lori said.
