(DCWathdog.com) – HAPPENING NOW: There has been a significant explosion followed by a fire at the base of the Hoover Dam.
You can watch the video of the explosion a bit further down this post.
The Hoover Dam is a concrete dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River. It sits at the border between Nevada and Arizona.
The explosion was followed by sirens wailing and tourists being moved away from the dam.
Some local news accounts indicate the explosion may have been one of the transformers at the dam exploding.
Currently, there is no reported structural damage to the dam, and the generation of electricity has not been interrupted.
Local police and federal law enforcement have been brought in to conduct an investigation.
The dam has long been on a list of national security assets that terrorists would seek to destroy.
