Born Princess Elizabeth of York (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary) on April 21, 1926, her reign as Queen began on February 6, 1952, when she was only 25. Her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, passed away last year.
The heir apparent to the throne is Prince Charles of Wales.
Reportedly, all of the Queen’s children were by her side at the time of her death.
Earlier in the day, Buckingham Palace released a statement announcing the “Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.” Soon after that, it was announced that members of the Royal Family were traveling to Balmoral, Scotland, where the Queen was staying.
