BREAKING: Madison Cawthorn Is In Trouble Again

U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC)

(DCWatchdog.com) – Although United States Representative Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) will no longer be in Congres next January because he lost his primary race just a few days ago, he seems to be in deeper trouble with his congressional colleagues.

According to the conservative Washington Examiner publication:

“The House Ethics Committee has voted unanimously to launch an investigation into Rep. Madison Cawthorn for his connection to an alleged cryptocurrency scam and a possible inappropriate relationship with a member of his staff.

“The scandal-prone Cawthorn (R-NC), who lost his renomination bid earlier this month, has been accused of insider trading related to the Let’s Go Brandon cryptocurrency, a Washington Examiner investigation revealed.” [emphasis added]

In an official press release, the House Ethics Committee announced:

“Pursuant to the Committee’s action, the Investigative Subcommittee shall have jurisdiction to determine whether Representative Madison Cawthorn may have: improperly promoted a cryptocurrency in which he may have had an undisclosed financial interest, and engaged in an improper relationship with an individual employed on his congressional staff. [emphasis added]

It is unclear what, if anything, the committee could do to Cawthorn if he is already out of Congress by the time the committee concludes its investigation, which is a distinct possibility given the usual pace of investigations brought by the House Ethics Committee.

As of the time of publication, Congressman Cawthorn made no statement about this latest trouble he now faces.
