(DCWatchdog.com) – In a new shocking move showing the Biden-Harris administration is practically siding with the Islamist terrorists from Hamas against US ally Israel, President Joe Biden is pressuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make concessions to the extremists.
Biden urged Netanyahu to adopt a more accommodating stance in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, aiming to facilitate a cease-fire and the liberation of hostages in Gaza, as per a source reported by Axios.
The conversation also included Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democrat presidential nominee, CNN reports.
The dialogue between the two leaders was expected to concentrate on Netanyahu’s insistence that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) maintain their presence along the Egypt-Gaza border, in the Philadelphi corridor, to prevent arms from reaching Hamas, Newsmax reports.
Netanyahu’s insistence has emerged as a substantial obstacle to achieving a cease-fire agreement, according to Israeli negotiators and US officials.
Biden sought to persuade Netanyahu to moderate his demands.
Representatives from Israel, the US, and Egypt convened in Cairo on Sunday and Monday to deliberate over the corridor.
Directed by Netanyahu, the Israeli representatives proposed a strategy indicating a potential reduction in their forces at the border, albeit maintaining a significant deployment.
This map, delineating the IDF’s proposed positions, was intended to be a part of the negotiation discussions.
However, the plan was dismissed by the Egyptian negotiators, and US officials informed Israel that the map was not acceptable for negotiations.
Additional discussions regarding the Philadelphi corridor involved Israeli, Egyptian, and US officials in Cairo.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu informed the families of hostages in Gaza that he might have persuaded US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to concede to his demands for the IDF to control the entire corridor.
Contrarily, State Department officials clarified that Blinken had not consented, and the US did not support Netanyahu’s demands.
Moreover, Blinken articulated on Tuesday in Doha, before his departure, that the US opposes any prolonged Israeli occupation of parts of the Gaza Strip.
In parallel discussions, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, along with leaders of the Israeli security services, warned Netanyahu that postponing an agreement until his demands regarding the Philadelphi corridor were met could escalate the risk of a broad regional conflict and further jeopardize the hostages in Gaza.
Gallant also visited IDF troops stationed at the corridor on Wednesday, where he relayed that the Hamas Rafah Brigade, which had been active in the region, had been overcome.
“We got to the point where we destroyed 150 tunnels,” he declared, emphasizing that one of the principal objectives of the conflict remains the liberation of the hostages.
