(DCWatchdog.com) – President Joe Biden has frustrated the hopes of liberals as it seems he has rejected any notion of a strong response to the United States Supreme Court over its recent anti-abortion ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.
Biden has been quick to shoot down calls for killing the Senate filibuster to be able to “pack” the Supreme Court with leftist justices who would, in turn, guarantee the agenda of the Democratic Party would be imposed on the American people.
In its ruling last Friday, the Supreme Court destroyed the claims of the left that abortion is a “constitutional right” and made it an issue to be decided upon by each state rather than on the federal level.
Key far-left figures such as US Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have reacted with outrage and calls for the Democrats, who presently hold a very slim majority in the Senate based on Vice President Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote to move immediately towards abolishing the legislative filibuster.
That would allow them to expand the number of Supreme Court justices by adding new leftists to the bench, who would be able to uphold progressivist policies such as unrestricted abortion.
Biden, however, is steering clear of such extremist measures, as revealed by his Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, who told reporters that the President is opposed to the reaction demanded by some Democrat heavyweights.
“That is something that the President does not agree with. That is not something that he wants to do,” Jean-Pierre declared, as cited by The Daily Wire.
“There was a commission that was put together about how to potentially move forward with the Court — reform the Court. I don’t have anything more to share from any — any final decision that the President has made,” the White House Press Secretary added.
At the same time, Jean-Pierre argued that the 6-3 Supreme Court decision that killed Roe v. Wade is an “extreme ruling is so out of step” with the majority of the American population who, in her words, support abortion.
She argued further that Roe v. Wade now “has such a majority popularity” but that it is also “so out of step with the Constitution,” reiterating the leftist claim that abortion is a “constitutional right” even though it isn’t mentioned in the United State Constitution.
