(DCWatchdog.com) – Using highly graphic language, Joe Biden has finally — it took him more than 48 hours to do so — delivered a strongly-worded address on the recent terrorist attack on Israel by the Islamist terrorist group Hamas – disclosing the scope of America’s losses in the invasion and vowing all-out support for the US ally.
On Saturday, the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War in 1973, thousands of Hamas terrorists managed to storm Israel’s border from the Gaza Strip, slaughtering and kidnapping civilians before the Israeli Defense Forces could roll them back.
“There are moments… when the pure, unadulterated evil is unleashed on this world. The people of Israel lived through one such moment this weekend [at] the bloody hands of the terrorist organization Hamas,” President Biden declared.
With Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken by his sides, he said at least 14 Americans were among the over 1,000 civilians massacred by the Palestinian terrorists.
“Parents butchered using their bodies to try to protect their children. Stomach-turning reports of being — babies being killed. Entire families slain. Young people massacred while attending a musical festival to celebrate peace… Women raped, assaulted, paraded as trophies… You all know these traumas never go away,” Biden said, describing the Hamas invasion of Southern Israel.
He stated that the US will firmly defend Israel against the “hatred and violence” perpetrated by Hamas.
Notably absent from his comments was any mention of Hamas’s ties to Iran, a significant financier of the group, National Review points out in a report. According to the Wall Street Journal, Iran played a major role in planning and resourcing the attack.
This assault by Hamas occurred shortly after the US administration under Biden released $6 billion in Iranian assets, previously frozen in Qatari banks, as part of a prisoner swap deal. Some Republicans are now pushing for a freeze or reallocation of these funds to Israel.
“We have not yet had $1 of that six billion spent, and I will leave it at that,” remarked White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, addressing those demands.
In his address, President Biden confirmed reports at least four American citizens were in Hamas’s captivity.
“As president, I have no higher priority than the safety of Americans being held hostage around the world,” Biden said.
However, he stopped short of directly calling on Hamas to release the American hostages.
