(DCWatchdog.com) – President Joe Biden can rightly claim that he scores higher than his predecessors, going back to Harry S. Truman, in at least one category.
Unfortunately for Biden and his fellow Democrats, it is not a category in which a president wants the highest score.
But it is true that Biden has the highest disapproval rating of any president in the modern history of American presidents at the same point in their presidency.
And it all has to do with how Biden’s “approval” rating has become a “disapproval” rating with the American public. He has fallen further faster than almost any other president.
A review of all polls considered trustworthy finds that Joe Biden is currently more unpopular — has a higher disapproval rating — with the American electorate than every previous president going back to President Harry S. Truman in 1945 as the Second World War ended seventy-seven years ago.
As fivethirtyeight.com shows in its compilation of approval and disapproval poll ratings for every president from Truman forward, Biden is currently at a 54.4% disapproval rating.
At the same point in their presidencies, here’s what all the others had as disapproval ratings:
- Harry S. Truman 45.1%
- Dwight D. Eisenhower 21.9%
- John F. Kennedy 15.9%
- Lyndon B. Johnson 20.3%
- Richard Nixon 32.0%
- Gerald Ford 38.9%
- Jimmy Carter 43.0%
- Ronald Reagan 44.0%
- George H.W. Bush 20.0%
- Bill Clinton 42.2%
- George W. Bush 18.7%
- Barack Obama 45.1%
- Donald Trump 52.6%
- Joe Biden 54.4%
