(DCWatchdog.com) – Joe Biden has finally admitted that due to his age, he feels “tired,” according to a new book about the 80-year-old president’s struggles in the White House.
The admission, which seems bound to hype worries that the president is unfit for office, was made in private, according to an upcoming book’s excerpts, reported by The Guardian and cited by The Daily Caller.
The book disclosing the president’s tiredness is entitled, “The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden’s White House and the Struggle for America’s Future.”
Its author is leftist writer Franklin Foer, who works for The Atlantic and was a former editor at The New Republic, both far-left publications.
Even though Foer doesn’t quote a concrete White House source about Biden’s admission that he feels tired, the publisher says the book is based on “unparalleled access to the tight inner circle of advisers who have surrounded Biden for decades.”
“His advanced years were a hindrance, depriving him of the energy to cast a robust public presence or the ability to easily conjure a name,” Foer writes.
“It was striking that he took so few morning meetings or presided over so few public events before 10 a.m. His public persona reflected physical decline and time’s dulling of mental faculties that no pill or exercise regime can resist,” the author elaborates.
“In private, he would occasionally admit that he felt tired,” Foer notes further.
The Caller stresses that public concerns over Biden’s age, mental acuity, and physical fitness have grown during his presidency.
After falling several times in public, the president recently started to use a smaller staircase closer to the ground when getting on Air Force One and began wearing sneakers “for increased comfort.”
A new poll by The Associated Press and NORC released earlier this week showed 77% of American voters had Biden’s age as their biggest concern over his 2024 reelection candidacy. That included 69% of Democratic Party supporters and 89% of Republicans.
The survey also found that 85% of those voters concerned about Biden’s age thought he shouldn’t seek another White House term.
In a CNN interview that followed the poll results, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declared the president was in such excellent shape that reporters couldn’t “keep up” with him on trips.
