(DCWatchdog.com) – According to a brand new report, Joe Biden is getting crushing results in public opinion polls just as he starts to campaign for reelection to the presidency.

Biden’s ratings are taking hits due to “his family’s business scandals, banking failures, skyrocketing violence, the deadly Afghan withdrawal, and (with) an economy ridden with systemic inflation,” Breitbart News stresses in a commentary.

The Democrat president has defended his record with arguments that the media only broadcast “negative news.”

“I think all they’ve heard is negative news for three years. Everything is negative,” Biden told pro-left TV network MSNBC News in an interview last week.

“And I’m not being critical of the press, you turn on the television, the only way you’re going to get a hit is if there’s something negative,” he added.

The report points out a poll by The Washington Post and ABC News released on May 7, which discovered that former President Donald Trump had a seven-point lead on Biden in a potential 2024 election matchup.

The survey found 36% said they would vote for Trump against Biden, 9% said they probably would back Trump, and 5% said they were leaning towards Trump, too.

At the same time, 32% said they were sure to vote for Biden, 6% said they probably would, and 4% leaned towards backing the incumbent.

The report calls it “a remarkable turn of events” that Trump “has such a commanding lead over” Biden only a week after the latter announced in a campaign video he’s running for reelection.

Another public opinion poll – released by Gallup last week – showed Americans didn’t have much confidence in Biden’s economic team amid bipartisan talks for a deal to raise the debt ceiling.

Thus, 34% and 38% of Americans said they had a “great deal” or “fair amount” of confidence in Biden, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

“Americans’ growing concern about the economy is manifested in their views of the key government officials responsible for economic policy. None of these leaders engenders much confidence now, and Americans have similarly low confidence levels in each. In fact, many are at or near low points in the two-decade history of Gallup’s trend,” Gallup commented.

Another public opinion survey by pro-left pollster YouGov established that independent voters were “unhappy” with the Biden presidency for several reasons.

Thus, 66% viewed the US economy under Biden as being “in a bad or poor shape,” while 17% thought it was “in good or excellent condition.”

At the same time, 64% had a negative view of how Biden had handled employment and the economy, and only 22% approved.

When asked whether Biden should run for reelection in 2024, 63% responded negatively, and 17% said “yes.”

Respectively, 58% declared they didn’t think Biden was the strongest possible candidate for the 2024 Democratic Party nomination, while again, 17% thought he was.
