(DCWatchdog.com) – Did you know there’s a “National Coming Out Day” in the United States of America? To be completely honest, here at DC Watchdog, we had no idea that there is a National Coming Out Day in the U.S and that, supposedly, it’s been in existence since 1988.
We always thought the second Monday of October was Columbus Day – a federal holiday. So, we were surprised to learn this morning that today is also National Coming Out Day – “an annual LGBT awareness day observed on October 11, to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other sexual and romantic identities in ‘coming out of the closet,'” according to Wikipedia and the Human Rights Campaign.

Once again, to be completely honest, we wouldn’t have even learned this morning about National Coming Out Day if it weren’t for the fact that President Joe Biden took the occasion to, once again, blast members of the Republican Party all across the country for having different views when it comes to morality, social issues, and public policy.
According to the conservative Washington Times, Biden issued a statement today celebrating National Coming Out Day while also condemning Republican legislators for not doing what Biden wants them to do when it comes to enacting state laws supporting what is commonly called the Queer lifestyle by the LGBTQ community. Biden went even further and claimed that too many Republican-led states are actively working to discriminate against the LGBTQ community.
What do you think? Did you know that today is National Coming Out Day?
