Are Trump and DeSantis At War?

Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis

(DCWatchdog.com) – Former President Donald Trump has said that he didn’t know if Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would try for the Presidency, but that if he did, Trump would surely come up as the victor.

“I don’t know if Ron is running, and I don’t ask him,” Trump said during a “The New Yorker” interview. “It’s his prerogative. I think I would win.”

This is not the first time that Trump has spoken this way about DeSantis, who has risen in popularity with Republicans because of his conservative policies.

Trump has also teased about making a presidential bid in 2024 but hasn’t announced anything yet. During the interview, he said he was “very close to making a decision.”

However, DeSantis’s political ambitions haven’t gone unnoticed by Trump, who had endorsed him during his 2018 gubernatorial bid and widely believes he is the reason for DeSantis’s success.

DeSantis has not disclosed whether he would run or back down if Trump made a Presidential bid.

Trump said that he and DeSantis have a “very good relationship.”

So far, DeSantis has not said anything about placing a bid for the White House and instead has focused on his work as governor. Still, speculation about his political future abounds.

Early polls show Trump to be the favorite for the 2024 Republican nomination, but DeSantis can usually be found in second place.
