AOC Hints at 2024 Election Shocker

(DCWatchdog.com) – United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who is the leader of the progressivist “Squad” in the House, has offered the American public an election shocker by hinting that she might run for president in 2024.

Ocasio-Cortez, widely known as AOC and who represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, appeared on CBS’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert with the host asking her whether she might be considering seeking the 2024 presidential nomination of the Democratic Party and running for president.

Even though President Joe Biden, who will turn 83 shortly after the 2024 presidential election, presently insists that he will run for a second White House term, his sliding ratings and concerns about his health and advanced age may change that plan.

Should Biden decide against running for reelection, the wider expectations are that the favorite for the Democratic Party’s nomination would be his Vice President, Kamala Harris.

Hillary Clinton’s name is also being mentioned, and so is even that of Michelle Obama, while Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t previously figured prominently in reports, commentaries, and public opinion polls on the issue.

However, as he interviewed AOC on his show, Colbert noted that she will have turned 35, the constitutional age threshold for running for President of the United States, by the time of the 2024 presidential election.

“I know somebody who’s going to turn 35 about a month before the election in 2024, and they represent New York’s 14th. Is that job appealing to you at all?” Colbert asked.

AOC’s reaction was to laugh and largely avoid answering the question.

“We need to focus on keeping a democracy for anybody to be president in the next couple of years. That’s my central focus is helping the people of this country right now,” she responded, prompting Colbert to press further.

“So it’s possible?” he persisted. “I don’t know about all that … you’re trying to get me in trouble, I don’t know about all that,” the Democrat replied as she continued to giggle.

Earlier this month, AOC raised eyebrows in Democrat circles when she refused to give a clear-cut answer on whether she would support President Joe Biden if he ran for reelection. “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” the progressivist leader said.
