Americans Say No To Biden and Trump

(DCWatchdog.com) – According to a new public opinion poll, most Americans are against former President Donald Trump’s 2024 White House candidacy and incumbent President Joe Biden’s seeking reelection.

Former President Trump announced his 2024 presidential candidacy on November 15, a week after the 2022 midterm elections.

Biden recently confirmed he would run for a second White House term and is expected to launch his campaign as early as this week officially.

According to a new poll by NBC News, 60% of Americans are against Donald Trump’s third run for the White House. That number includes about a third of Republican voters.

Among those US voters who think Trump shouldn’t run for the White House again, 30% say a “major” reason for their view is the financial crime charges filed against him by Manhattan’s Democrat DA Alvin Bragg, The Hill points out in a report.

However, the NBC News survey found that an even higher share of Americans – 70% – believed that Joe Biden should remain a one-term president. That number includes more than half – 51% d – of Democrat voters.

The poll established that 48% of Americans who said Biden shouldn’t seek reelection pointed to his advanced age as the “major” reason behind their view.

The report emphasizes that other recent opinion polls have also shown “low” public enthusiasm for Trump or Biden’s White House candidacy, especially the possibility of a rematch of the 2020 election.

Thus, a recent public opinion survey by Yahoo News and YouGov discovered that a plurality of American voters – or 38% – said they felt “exhaustion” over the possibility that the 2024 presidential election might repeat the 2020 Trump-Biden race.

The new poll by NBC News found that former President Donald Trump remained the top contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination with a lead of 15 percentage points on the second most popular politician among likely GOP primary voters, Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis hasn’t entered the GOP presidential nomination race but is expected to do so in May.

The same survey discovered that 41% of registered US voters would “definitely” or “probably” vote for Joe Biden if he wins his party’s presidential nomination and runs in the general election.

That figure includes 88% of the Democratic Party’s voters.

The NBC News survey was conducted among 1,000 US voters between April 14 and April 18, with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
