(DCWatchdog.com) – In a development that should terrify Kamala Harris, CNN has highlighted “alarming numbers” and troubling trends for the Democrat presidential candidate in the leftist network’s latest polling data showing that she is in big trouble.
According to a CNN poll by SSRS, Harris holds a significant lead over former President Donald Trump among Black voters at 63%, and a 19% lead among Latino voters, The Daily Caller reports.
Keilar, on “CNN News Central,” emphasized Harris’s efforts to broaden her appeal among minority groups, given Trump’s substantial support from white voters.
This shift prompted CNN political director David Chalian to point out the Vice President’s underperformance compared to President Joe Biden’s 2020 exit polls among these key demographics.
“There are some alarming numbers in here for her if she is looking to … really edge out, he’s got such an advantage with white voters, she’s looking to broaden her support with minority voters,” Keilar stated.
Chalian responded, “Obviously she has, according to our latest poll today, a 63 percentage point advantage with black voters versus Trump. That’s obviously huge. But look, Joe Biden had a 75 percentage point advantage in the 2020 exit poll. So she’s not performing at the same level of margin as Joe Biden was four years ago when he was successful. Similar story among Latino voters, she has a healthy 19 percentage point advantage over Trump with Latino voters in our poll, but Joe Biden had a 33 point advantage.”
CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten also discussed Harris’s comparative weaknesses among black and Hispanic voters relative to Biden’s standings at a similar point in the 2020 race.
However, he noted that Harris is mitigating some of these losses with improved performance among white voters, based on analyses from the Cook Political Report and various polling aggregates.
“What’s essentially going on here is that Kamala Harris is able to make up the sort of lower standing that she has among black and Hispanic voters by doing significantly better than Joe Biden did four years ago in the final tally, among white voters,” said Enten.
In the battleground states, Trump is outpacing Harris in the racially diverse sun belt regions of Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, according to a Monday New York Times/Siena College Poll.
Meanwhile, Harris holds a slight lead over Trump in the predominantly white Great Lake states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, per the RealClearPolling averages.
