(DCWatchdog.com) – As with almost every weekend, this past weekend in the city of Chicago was exceptionally deadly. Forty-six residents were shot, and at least ten of those victims have died.
Critics of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot point to the neverending street crime in the city as evidence of her seemingly inability to enact policies that reduce the level of violence currently plaguing significant portions of the city.
As Breitbart News notes in “46 Shot During Memorial Weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago“:
“Forty-six people were shot, ten of them fatally, during Memorial Day weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.
“Breitbart News noted at least 21 people were shot Friday into Sunday morning alone on Memorial Weekend, and four of those shooting victims succumbed to their wounds.
“ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reports the number of shooting victims rose to 46 by Monday evening, with six of those victims dying from their injuries.” [emphasis added]
Breitbart also noted that this Memorial Day weekend was even more violent than the same holiday weekend a year ago in Chicago, questioning what Lightfoot and the top police officials under her command are doing to stem the violence.
