$40 Million in Taxpayer Funds to Help Illegal Aliens Do WHAT?

Governor Katie Hobbs

(DCWatchdog.com) – Arizona’s newly sworn-in Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs has proposed that tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer money be spent so illegal aliens can attend state colleges and universities.

On January 2, Hobbs was inaugurated as the 24th Governor of Arizona. She succeeded Republican Doug Ducey, who was staunchly against illegal immigration and even tried to build a makeshift border wall using empty shipping containers and razor wire, with little effect.

According to the official results of the 2022 election, she narrowly beat Republican candidate Kari Lake – by 0.6 percentage points or 17,000 votes.

Hobbs raised eyebrows during the election because, as Arizona’s Secretary of State at the time, she certified her own victory.

Almost two years ago, on his first day in office, Democrat President Joe Biden canceled the construction of his predecessor Donald Trump’s border wall.

Since then, about 6 million illegal immigrants have invaded the US through the Southern Border, with Arizona heavily affected as one of the four border states.

According to Hobbs, the people of Arizona should provide $40 million from their taxes to pay for illegal aliens’ attendance at state colleges and universities.

In her inaugural speech, the Democrat promised to boost the Arizona Promise Scholarship Program, designed to help low-income students attend college.

She also vowed to create the “Promise for DREAMers Scholarship Program” to “cover all students, regardless of immigration status, who attend a public university,” Breitbart News reported.

Hobbs’ move would use $40 million in state money to help illegal immigrants – about 2,000 per year – occupy many of the limited openings at state higher education institutions.

The new governor’s initiative became possible after the voters in Arizona approved a Republican-sponsored law allowing in-state tuition to illegals. The November vote repealed a 2006 law banning in-state tuition for illegal aliens.

College attendance for American students in Arizona costs about $4,500 annually, which swells to over $20,000 yearly with room, board, books, and supplies. Graduate programs cost an average of $27,300 a year.

The report notes that American colleges and universities rely substantially on income from international students, including vast numbers of illegal aliens.

“University systems are generating about $9 billion in revenue annually via tuition and fees from foreign students,” it points out.

Breitbart explains further that tver 400,000 illegal immigrants sare tudying at colleges and universities in the United States, and about 182,000 ore enrolled or eligible in the DACA program (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) adopted by the Obama administration.

The DACA students thus account for a “significant portion of university systems’ billions in revenue from their foreign student pipeline.”
